Strange Tales of Qingming: Nine Pacts with the Underworld

A promise carved into bone, unchanged for three hundred years.

During the peaceful reign of the Great Zhou, deep in Wutong Alley south of Jinling City, there is a pawnshop that opens only at the hour of the Dog and closes at the hour of the Rabbit. Its mysterious keeper, Qing Ming, accepts only things that cannot be seen or touched, yet are more precious than life itself, taking a bone-white ring as collateral.

A dream of the past, a lifelong obsession, an unfinished romance, blessings for the next life...

Nine stories spanning ten years, nine pawn tickets backed by memories, and nine promises made to fate.

From pleasure boats on the Jinling River to ancient tombs in the Qinling Mountains, from Miaojiang witchcraft to the desolate lands north of the frontier. Every appointment is a redemption that crosses the boundary between life and death.

And the deadline for his own appointment is drawing closer with every step.
