The Abyss of Power

From the moment she drew the first line on the whiteboard, she stepped into a war between computation and human nature.

Algorithms and human nature, boundaries and transgression, rational calculation and hidden desire, falling into and embracing the data abyss.

Is it understanding? Control? Contamination? Fusion? Can emotions be calculated? Can human nature be reduced to parameters?

She taught algorithms to understand love, memory, and ethics, only to discover that she was the variable being optimized. As technology began calculating heartbeats, defining boundaries, and copying souls, she stood at the heart of a torrent of computing power, trying to draw one last arc of humanity to keep people from falling into the endless abyss.

This is a story about choice. At every crossroads where the optimal solution seems obvious, someone turns back and takes the harder, gentler path.
