This is a street where the dead wander. And I am its newly appointed Soul-Calming General.
My name is Yang Chen, a drifter with shattered memories. I only remember that I don't belong in this world, and that the only companion by my side was a black dog with one odd feature, who had been with me since childhood.
Then came that brutal act of revenge. It died for me, and on that very day, I heard a roar from within my bloodline, as if it had come from the ancient past.
They say my guardian spirit is unusual. So unusual that the old Soul-Calming General who led me down this path gripped my hand tight on his deathbed and left me with an enigmatic warning:
“Protect Wangxiang Street, but don't believe any ‘truth’ you see. That includes everything I have entrusted to you, and… the ‘dog’ by your side.”
Now I have taken his place, along with this town's obsession with “all spirits looking homeward,” and the ancient altar sealed deep in the heart of the street.
I know these peaceful days won't last. War is about to break out on Luosha Street to the north, the Kingdom organization is stirring in the shadows, and even the lofty Spirit Realm seems to have turned a scrutinizing gaze on my insignificant street.
But I fear nothing.
Because when night falls, my shadow will merge with another form. It will tear apart every enemy that comes for us, devouring moonlight and malice.
They think it's just a powerful dog.
They're wrong.
It is my other half, my fangs, and the only thing I have ever had in this desperate world: my first… and my last “echo.”
(And none of us yet realizes when, or for whom, the third eye sleeping in the depths of my soul, watching all this, will open.)
