"My Feng Shui Past" is set in the Loess Plateau in northwest Shanxi and tells the story of "I" (Chen Nianzu) growing from an ignorant child to the guardian of the Loess Plateau. In the autumn of 1980, the seven-year-old "Gou Sheng" listened to his grandfather Chen Shouyi's lectures on Feng Shui in Chenjia'ao. He witnessed many joys and sorrows caused by Feng Shui, including Aunt Zhang's family's violation of Feng Shui rules and marriage trouble, Wang Huairen's greed for possession of the dragon veins of Fengshui Ridge, and his backlash. Under the words and deeds of my grandfather and Li Laodao, "I" gradually understood the true meaning of Feng Shui - obeying the heavens and people's hearts are the most important. From the five ghosts in Lijia'ao who haunted the house, to the desperate borrowing of blood in Scorpion Ridge, to the mining disaster caused by the explosion of the coal mine, to the family destruction and death due to the grab for the Wenchang position, "I" have experienced countless disasters caused by greed and disrespect, and also witnessed the peace brought by sticking to one's duty and protecting the home. After my grandfather and Li Laodao passed away, "I" took over the "Qingwu Sutra" and the compass, led the villagers to restore the pulse energy, protect the plateau soil, and continue the Feng Shui inheritance and the responsibility of protecting the plateau from generation to generation. The work uses Feng Shui stories as a carrier to connect the good and evil of human relationships on the Loess Plateau and the changes over time, and reveals the core concept of "Feng Shui protects and eats people, and the good and evil of people's hearts determine good and bad luck." In a narrative full of regional characteristics, it conveys the deep feelings of respecting nature, adhering to one's own heart, and protecting the soil from generation to generation.
