Move Aside, You’re Holding Back My Progress

There are countless ways to die, but Shen Manman is the first person to be angered to death by an exam. After failing the civil service exam, Shen Manman was so furious she passed out. When she opened her eyes again, she had become a newly hired temporary worker at a food factory in the 1970s! Well, although there are fewer supplies in this era, production is less advanced, and there’s none of the modern high-tech stuff, there are plenty of secure government jobs. As long as she works hard, she’s bound to land one eventually. She gets herself together and rolls up her sleeves. Shen Manman is ready to fight tooth and nail for that “golden rice bowl”! The university entrance exams are reinstated? Perfect! She leads her study group to the top while helping Lu Huaian, that “pretty but useless” guy, grow into an industrial powerhouse. University, government offices, industrial zones... Every step Shen Manman takes keeps time with the beat of a changing era. While everyone else is still fighting tooth and nail for a secure job, she’s figured it out: a true iron rice bowl is the ability to earn a living wherever you go! This is the story of a generation striving forward, and of one girl forging her own path to success with wit and hard work. [The heroine focuses on her career throughout. The hero grows alongside her later on. Their relationship is a partnership between equals and kindred spirits. One-on-one romance, happy ending.]
