Forbidden Childhood Games: The Uncanny Under the Rules' Control

Li Mu, a longtime homebody, transmigrates to a parallel world where technology is advanced but entertainment is desperately lacking. None of the anime that accompanied him as he grew up exist here. At first, he only plans to become a writer by reworking stories from memory and use them to reach the pinnacle of success. But then the world begins to change in subtle ways.

A copy of The Yang Village Survival Rules appears on his phone without warning, ordering him to go to an abandoned amusement park on the edge of the city at midnight. Its rules are bizarre and contradictory:

1. Sheep are always kind, unless their eyes turn red.

2. Don’t trust a wolf in patched clothes, unless the moon turns green.

3. An iron pot can protect you, but only on odd-numbered days.

To Li Mu’s horror, as he follows the rules step by step, the characters from Pleasant Goat and Big Big Wolf begin appearing in reality in grotesquely twisted forms: sheep with blood-red eyes and frozen smiles; wolves wearing human skin and drooling...

Before he can even finish solving the rules of Yang Village, a string of other rule-based horror stories appear, including Bear Ridge Visitor Guide and Bikini Bottom Survival Guide. Li Mu gradually realizes that every anime he remembers could be a collection of deadly rules in this world.

And those “childhood characters” are waving to him with eerie smiles...
