The story is set in Peking, which fell in 1942. It tells the story of Zhou Shuan, a former laboratory technician at Union Medical College Hospital, who after his sister was abducted by the Japanese army in the name of "epidemic prevention", resolutely sneaked into the devil's cave and witnessed the horrifying truth of in vivo experiments under the guise of so-called "advanced medicine." With the help of patriots, he took risks to obtain the core evidence of the crime, and followed the victim aboard the bacterial experimental ship "Rongfeng Maru" known as the "Hell Ship". In a desperate situation, he and his comrades tried their best to preserve the evidence, and finally sank the "time capsule" recording all the crimes into the deep sea for later generations to discover.
