Wang Qian, a top student, transmigrates as the only son of a ninth-rank official in the Great Qing dynasty. His father may not hold a high position, but at least he has a proper government job. So why bother being a top student? He can just lie flat! Lying flat is the highest goal in life.
But then a corruption case turns his father into a scapegoat. His official post is stripped away, their property is confiscated, and the whole family returns to their ancestral home in the countryside, where they have to live at the mercy of others. After injuring himself yet again while working, Wang Qian throws down his sickle, picks up his books, and turns to the thing he does best: studying!
He studies to take the imperial exams; he takes the exams to earn top honors; and he earns top honors so he can lie flat for good.
Instead, he accidentally becomes the top scorer and publicly berates the emperor in front of all the civil and military officials.
The entire court is shaken, and a sweeping transformation is about to begin...
Not bad to watch
