"Journey to the West" is a dark fantasy novel that uses "Journey to the West" as the narrative framework and deeply integrates the teachings of the Buddhist classic "The Avatamsaka Sutra". It constructs a heterogeneous universe full of cyber Buddhism, biological meditation and quantum cause and effect. The work subverts the redemption narrative of the traditional Journey to the West myth and reconstructs the journey of seeking scriptures into a rebellious epic that tears apart the truth of the dharma world. The core conflict revolves around Xuanzang's master and disciple's discovery of the horrifying truth that "the Tathagata's Dharma Realm is actually a parasitic system": the names of Buddhas are living mantras that suck the blood of believers, Leiyin Temple is actually a biological placenta that incubates cosmic lies, and the Avatamsaka Sutra is a neuromemetic virus that controls all living beings. The sutra-retrieval team had to use self-destructive means of enlightenment—cutting tongues and breaking oaths, burning sutras to burn pupils, and reducing dimensionality to give birth—to fight against the tampered Buddhist system, and uncover the ferocious ecological chain behind Buddhist concepts in every disaster: the Four Noble Truths are the neural spider web that stitches cause and effect, the ten-abode practice is a parasitic fetus that devours understanding, and the Samantabhadra vows are actually the entropy engine that accelerates the heat death of the universe.
