A Love Pledge Amid the Flames of War

Shanghai, 1927. Two major business families are forced into an arranged marriage to resist the encroachment of foreign capital. Lin Shuyue, the Lin family heiress, appears to be a beautiful, fair-skinned “iron rose” who knows only how to design qipaos, but is actually an underground intelligence agent for the Communist Party with a photographic memory. Lu Jinshen, the Lu family’s heir, seems to be a carefree banker who studied in Japan, but secretly uses his shipping routes to deliver supplies to the resistance against Japan. Bound by a marriage contract, the two impostors go from testing each other to uncovering one another’s secret identities, and ultimately become revolutionary lovers fighting side by side amid the flames of war.
