On the Xuanling Continent, sects stood side by side, and cultivators advanced by refining spiritual power. The realms were Qi Refining, Foundation Establishment, Golden Core, Nascent Soul, Spirit Transformation, Tribulation Transcendence, and Supreme.
The Hehuan Sect, Joyful Temple, Bliss Nunnery, and Miaoyu Sect were known together as the four dual-cultivation sects. Each had its own secret arts. The Hehuan Sect's enchantment arts were unmatched; the Joyful Temple practiced both Zen and martial arts, with hidden desires beneath the surface; the Bliss Nunnery concealed its allure beneath a serene exterior; and the Miaoyu Sect used music, chess, calligraphy, and painting to draw in spiritual power. The four sects vied with one another, each hoping to rule the Xuanling Continent.
Ling Yun before transmigrating / Su Meier after transmigrating
- Before transmigrating: A modern special forces soldier, decisive and ruthless in battle, with sound principles.
- After transmigrating: A good-for-nothing female outer sect disciple of the Hehuan Sect, with shattered spiritual roots and cultivation stalled at the third Qi Refining level. She was bullied and humiliated until Ling Yun's soul entered her body, awakening her Innate Enchanting Bone physique. She could not cultivate on her own and had to absorb spiritual power through dual cultivation with people of different spiritual roots and physiques. The more partners she cultivated with, the more her physique evolved, until it could ultimately accommodate the spiritual power of all living beings, including men and women, humans and demons, immortals and devils.
- Personality: At first, she was forced into dual cultivation and endured it with restraint. In the middle, she gradually mastered the secrets of her physique, became decisive and ruthless, and used dual cultivation to rise rapidly. In the later stages, she cared for the world, united its forces with an iron hand, and became a ruler.
- Core golden finger: Her Innate Enchanting Bone physique lets her absorb her partner's spiritual power during dual cultivation and copy one of their innate skills. After evolving, it also grants her absolute mental control over her partners. Those who cultivate with Su Meier become utterly dependent on and loyal to her.
