The Ascetic Monk Snaps His Prayer Beads and Begs Me to Make His Heart Race

Pei Ji, the heir of the capital's elite, wore prayer beads around his wrist and was cool and abstinent, an untouchable beauty on a high peak.

For her family's sake, Shen Qingci put on a “mask” and agreed to his almost impossibly strict terms for their marriage alliance:

“To be Mrs. Pei, you only need to follow one rule: cultivate the path of passionlessness, and never fall for me.”

Shen Qingci smiled. “Deal.”

After they married, she followed the agreement to the letter.

When he came home late, she never checked up on him and went to bed early.

When he fell ill, she never went near him, only arranging the best caregiver for him.

When he appeared alongside a rumored love interest, she graciously liked the picture and even thoughtfully helped clear up the rumors.

Pei Ji thought this was the perfect marriage he'd wanted.

Until one rainy night, when he saw her give someone else a genuine smile and the prayer beads in his hand snapped.

The man stormed into her room, pinned her hard against a corner, and begged her in despair:

“Shen Qingci, the agreement is void.”

“Please, fall for me just once. Even if you're only pretending... that's enough.”
