Torrential rain, acid rain, dense fog, extreme heat, bitter cold, typhoons, earthquakes, insect plagues, eternal night, and compound disasters
When Si Chu died, her last thought was: I never got to eat my takeout. What a waste.
Then she bonded with a doomsday survival System and received a beginner’s gift pack: a kitchen knife.
World One: Torrential Rain.
Still in her pajamas and wearing two mismatched socks, Si Chu crouched on top of a supermarket shelf.
Then she met a man.
He paddled a rubber dinghy piled high with supplies and looked up at her with a smile. “Come down.”
Only later did she learn his name was Qing Xuan. His identity and motives were unknown, and he appeared by her side under a different identity during every disaster.
Si Chu asked the System, “What exactly is he?”
The System was silent for a long time before managing to say, [Data anomaly.]
“Aren’t you high-tech?”
[He’s higher-tech than I am.]
Si Chu: “…”
Later, she discovered that the System was actually a double agent.
And later still, she finally cornered him against a wall, pressing her kitchen knife to his chest.
“Who are you, really?”
He looked down at her, the light of the whole world reflected in his eyes.
“Yours,” he said.
Si Chu froze, then turned her head away, the tips of her ears quietly turning red.
The System let out a long sigh in her mind:
[I ship it.]
