This pirate novel is not brainless, it is commonly known as a normal world view with some brains.
There is no air every second. The protagonist starts from being a slave (a plug-in that comes with the Earth Star) and grows slowly. There are strong enemies and obstacles at every stage. In the real world, it is easy to encounter suppression, exclusion, betrayal, etc.
