Peace of Mind, Given to Me

When a top student shackled by perfection meets a solitary boy who uses silence to resist the world,

two souls scarred by their families quietly draw closer amid the chaos of their senior year.

Chen Yu traded a daring escape for freedom, only to find herself in an unfamiliar classroom with unfamiliar exams at Shuicheng No. 1 High School.

Then, one rainy night, a broken guitar melody drifts from the apartment across the hall, singing Li Jian's “Stranger in a Foreign Land.”

For the first time, she hears someone turn loneliness into poetry.

Ji Xin'an's world has long since been muted.

His parents' arguments are the everyday soundtrack, and his mother's ashtray is fuller than the dining table.

Then the girl who transferred in shares one of her earbuds with him:

“You sing beautifully.”

Five words crack open the first fissure in his frozen seventeen-year-old heart.

“This isn't a love story. It's about two wounded people finding proof in each other's eyes that they are still worthy of love.”
