This is a story about waiting, farewell and eternity.
A young girl, Aning, suffered from congenital heart disease and was predicted by doctors that she would not live to be twenty years old. In order to let her spend her last days peacefully, her mother took her to live in seclusion in the seaside town "Mist Tide Bay" far away from the hustle and bustle. Aning's world is small, with only white shells, silent waves and the back of her mother. She measured the remaining days with strings of shell necklaces, each one representing a summer.
Until the seventh summer, the young painter Lin Yu broke into her pure white world. With a drawing board and fiery eyes, he tried to fill her pale life with color.
