Lu Shiyan, a top student in the computer science department, had always seemed cool and reserved to everyone around him. He excelled in his studies and was strikingly handsome, yet kept to himself, his eyes never betraying a ripple of emotion.
Until the height of summer in September, when a sweet, soft-spoken girl named Su Wan bumped into him on the tree-lined path by the east gate. Clutching a crumpled map, she blushed and apologized over and over.
He said it was on his way, but bent down to carry her heavy suitcase. Though he hated being bothered, he couldn't help saving her a seat beside him in the library and picking the cilantro out of her lunchbox. When he saw her pale face during military training after her blood sugar dropped, he silently offered her candy. At night, during the singing sessions, his gaze always drifted after her without him realizing it.
Everyone else thought Lu Shiyan was still as aloof as ever. Only he knew how much about "Su Wan" filled his diary: the scent of her gardenias, the tips of her ears turning red, her awkwardness as she offered him warm milk, and the soft way she called him "Lu."
From lending a hand without thinking when they first met to deliberately finding ways to get closer as the days passed, he had hidden a whole youth's worth of tenderness, wanting to give it to her alone.
It turned out that even the cool wind would eventually stop for a late-blooming cherry blossom. All his exceptions and favoritism had been proof that he was falling for her.
