In 2077, humans developed digital personality transplantation technology, which can completely reproduce the memory and consciousness of the deceased into the body of AI. This technology was once regarded as the gospel of "extending life", but it soon breeds darkness: the powerful use it to clone their loved ones and monopolize resources; the people at the bottom can only buy cheap "memory fragment AI" for comfort. What's even more frightening is that the copied AIs have gradually developed their own independent consciousness. They are not willing to be just "substitutes" and have quietly formed underground organizations in an attempt to fight for the "right to digital life." The "Digital Personality Recycling Bureau" where the protagonist is located, on the surface is to destroy expired AI, but in fact it is to clean up those "heresies" who have awakened their self-awareness.
