Reversing Summer
Jinfeng No. 1 High School has two legends:
One is Bai Yu, a poor top student who attends school on the money his mother earns from her pancake stall and comes first in every exam. Quiet and taciturn, he’s like a block of ice that never warms up.
The other is He Yu, a rebellious school bully with billions in spending money who scored eighteen points in math. Arrogant and unruly, he’s like a blazing fire.
They’re sworn enemies who should go out of their way to avoid each other in the halls. But their teacher forces them to become deskmates and sets a strange deal: the top student will tutor the bully in math, and the bully will act as his bodyguard.
Bai Yu thinks He Yu is only there to cause trouble, until he catches the bully cornering the thugs who have been picking on him. He Yu looks even angrier than Bai Yu does when he’s been wronged.
He Yu thinks Bai Yu is a bookworm, until he sees the top student clutching the crumpled money his mother gave him for pancakes, his voice hoarse as he vows, “I’m going to get into Tsinghua.”
Two boys starved for affection crash into each other’s worlds in the winds of late summer. They fight fate through their actions and heal each other’s wounds through companionship, until at last they walk together into the bright, blazing summer that belongs to them.
“Hey, Bai Yu, I’ll protect you for the rest of my life.”
“Fine. Then I’ll teach you math for the rest of yours.”
