Memories from the Alleyway

After Li Ping'an takes over the family noodle shop, Hutu Ji, he discovers that his grandfather left behind more than just an old wok.

Late at night, the grease-stained cookbook turns its own pages, revealing unfamiliar writing:

“Thirty-seventh ingredient: Amber of Time. For those whose heartstrings are wound too tight, soothe them with the sweetness of slowed time.”

The next day, an investment banker driven to the brink by deadlines walks in, searching for a caramel pudding from his childhood memories.

Only then does Ping'an learn that he has inherited the art of flavor cultivation. The stove is his sacred ground, and food is his magic:

A bowl of lacy-bottomed pan-fried dumplings can thaw the tears an elderly street cleaner has kept frozen for thirty years;

A triple-seared pork knuckle can temper the fury that has burned an old craftsman's family ties;

And every life successfully brought into harmony through flavor becomes a streak of light, completing the awakening Hundred Flavors Compendium.

As the demolition crew's bulldozers roar toward the shop,

As a smiling investor offers generous compensation,

Ping'an quietly opens the yellowed pages.

The latest line of ink is still wet:

“Guard flavor as you would a city. Use the array of a hundred flavors to protect the soul of one alley.”

A tongue attuned to spirits, seven emotions infused with flavor.

This is a heartwarming battle to heal people with food and mend the soul of a city.
