Synopsis

During the Hongwu era, Lady Lü of the Eastern Palace lay low deep within the palace. She poisoned Empress Ma, Crown Princess Chang, and Zhu Ying, the eldest imperial grandson, then seized the empress's position and threw the court into turmoil. The secret behind Jianwen's campaign to weaken the vassal princes remained hidden, until Zhu Di launched the Jingnan Campaign to purge the emperor's ministers. After ascending the throne, he reopened the old case and used thunderous measures to put an end to the Lü clan's crimes.
