This is my grandma's story.
Her name is Pang Yuhu, and she is a southern pearl in Hepu, Guangdong. She is knowledgeable, courteous, and gentle.
Married three times in her life, from the county magistrate's daughter, to Zhuyan's young mistress, to the general's favor, and then to the wife of a veteran, she has walked through the prosperity of Shili Hongzhuang, endured the displacement of the bombardment, tasted the bitterness of life, and finally found the stability of her life in her hometown in western Guangdong.
My grandfather's name is Wu Wenlou. He is a hero from Lianjiang, Guangdong. He has a rough but tough life.
He lost his father at the age of nine, his mother at the age of twelve, and went to the battlefield with a gun at the age of sixteen. He followed Sun Yat-sen in the Northern Expedition, and then participated in the Songhu Anti-Japanese War with Cai Tingkai and Chen Mingshu. From fighting the Japanese on the battlefield to serving as a master, he saw mountains of corpses and seas of blood, was betrayed and falsely accused, but he always loved this land.
In the autumn of 1941, she fled back to her hometown with scars all over her body, and he caught her at the city gate.
Her pearl earrings are the soul of Hepu; his bayonet scars are the soul of the Cantonese army.
Two poor people, with a heart that knows each other, redeem each other in the years of war and spend the rest of their lives together.
A new life was born in the hut - that was my father, the brightest light in their suffering years.
Pearls will be covered with dust, and hoes will be rusted, but life is like weeds, withering and flourishing year by year, endlessly growing.
