[Plant-Based Powers + Hunting in the Mountains + Raising Children + Getting Rich + Farming]
Gu Xinyu awakened plant-based powers, then transmigrated into the body of a widow with the same name. The original owner had been tormented by her in-laws until she died of a high fever, and now her three children were about to be handed over to a gambling den by her gambling-addicted brother-in-law to pay off his debts.
Gu Xinyu refused to put up with it. Since she had taken over the original owner’s body, she had a duty to protect her three children from bullies. She jabbed her brother-in-law in the face with a broom, then forced her mother-in-law to agree to split the household by threatening her with a kitchen knife. She took the land and fields on the west side of the village.
She hunted in the mountains and used her powers to grow crops and make money. She sent the children to a village school, and their life grew better and better. Meanwhile, without the original owner to embroider handkerchiefs and sell them for money, her in-laws had lost their cash cow. They fought tooth and nail every day over who had to work, and their lives became miserable and increasingly difficult.
Seeing how well Gu Xinyu and the children were doing, they shamelessly came to beg for food. Gu Xinyu chased them away with a broom, declaring that even feeding the meat to the little tiger cubs she was raising would be better than giving it to those black-hearted wretches.
Later, some of the original owner’s in-laws died, while others starved. By then, Gu Xinyu had raised her eldest son to become the top scholar, her second son to become a great general, and her youngest daughter to become a wealthy merchant. Her daughter also married the second son of a hunter family, who had likewise risen through the ranks by joining the army.
When people praised the children for their success, they all replied in unison: “Our mother is the amazing one. She’s learned, strong, and good at making money. No one can compare to her.”
