Da Yu'er and Dorgon fall in love, but she is forced to marry Huang Taiji. The drama also depicts how, after Huang Taiji's death, she supports her son Fulin's accession to the throne, as well as the complicated emotional entanglements and power struggles between her and Dorgon. The series won numerous awards, including Best Long-Form Television Series at the 21st China TV Golden Eagle Awards.
