The Exiled Minister's Daughter Finds Her Fortune in the Kitchen

From the start: exile + culinary delights + a slow-paced life + family drama + overturning a wrongful conviction + romance

Modern chef Su Nianhe dies of an illness and wakes up as Su Nianhe, the daughter of a disgraced official being exiled. Her parents have been killed, the case that sent her entire family to prison is riddled with doubts, and she has a deadweight of a younger brother who wants to kill himself. In the bitter winter, the family is exiled with barely enough food or clothing. The guards beat and berate them at every turn, and they risk freezing to death outdoors or falling prey to lecherous guards. With her strong nerves and culinary skills, modern chef Su Nianhe overcomes one obstacle after another during the exile and earns a chance to survive. She also begins to uncover clues to the wrongful case against her family. Relying on her cooking and her own abilities, she fights her way from an exile prisoner back to the capital. But her only uncle’s family is all honeyed words and hidden daggers, and they kick the siblings out. Su Nianhe doesn’t mind. All she wants is to make money, then sell food for a living. She works her way up from a street stall to a grand restaurant, and whatever life throws at her, she can still make her dream come true.

“Life has love and hate, bitterness and spice. You can’t afford to take any of it lightly.”
