Just after Xu Zhixia bought a house, her company ran into a crisis.
A new general manager, Shi Jingxing, was parachuted into the company.
Overnight, she went from being invisible at work to standing in the eye of the storm.
She weathered every bit of pressure amid the office's overt and covert schemes, but his repeated support and trust made her fall for him when she shouldn't have.
Yet she was clear-headed and proud, and would never let herself get caught up in a forbidden office romance.
The day she handed in her resignation, she walked away without looking back.
"Mr. Shi, let's never meet again."
She thought they would go their separate ways from then on.
But she never imagined that her resignation was the beginning of his long-laid plan.
He would "happen to pass by" her workshop and take her home;
when someone gave her a hard time, he would quietly smooth things over for her;
and he remembered the things she casually mentioned liking.
Until one day, he cornered her at the entrance to an alley, his voice low and earnest:
"Xu Zhixia, why do you keep pushing me away?"
It turned out that he had fallen deeply in love with her during all those days they fought side by side.
The secret crush that began at work finally burst into life after she left.
