A global fog has divided the world into internal and external parts. Monsters breed in the shadows, and humans can only gain twisted power and survive in the cracks by climbing the bloody "sequence ladder".
Lu Chen, a retired soldier king, awakened from the brink of death during the foggy incident he encountered for the first time, and became a rare and dangerous "Trickster" sequence. He only has a mutilated ancient book from his late father in his hand, which can provide a glimpse into some advanced rituals and monster weaknesses in advance, but it also comes with an unpredictable price.
