Who Says Cannon Fodder Has to Die? The On-Screen Comments Help Me Become Empress

[Danmaku Spoilers + Palace and Household Intrigue + Cannon Fodder Supporting Female Character + Clear-Headed Female Lead + Both Pure]

Yun Ran is an unloved illegitimate daughter of the Yun family. The first time she steps into the Eastern Palace, she suddenly sees danmaku floating before her eyes.

The comments say she's cannon fodder who dies horribly as soon as she appears, while her legitimate older sister is the kindhearted heroine, as serene as a chrysanthemum.

After Zhao Liangyuan slashes her face and holds her underwater in a lotus pond until she drowns,

her kind and magnanimous older sister chooses to let the matter go rather than trouble the Crown Prince with something so trivial. Later, she even reforms Zhao Liangyuan, and the two become as close as sisters.

Learning all this, Yun Ran sneers inwardly: If cannon fodder are destined to die, then she'll tear the whole script to shreds!

The first time Murong Heng sees Yun Ran, she's just killed one of his concubines and is covered in blood.

He admits that even filthy with blood and looking so disheveled, the woman before him is still breathtakingly beautiful.

But as the heir to the throne, his heart belongs only to power and the realm. A peerless beauty is no more than a painted skull to him, and she doesn't catch his eye at all.

He keeps Yun Ran by his side only because she's useful to him.

Later, he warns Yun Ran time and again to behave, yet keeps making exceptions for her.

He thinks he has everything under control, never realizing that the first person to lose control and fall apart is himself...
