The story takes place in the modern city of Haicheng. The core rules revolve around "memory echo": when a person experiences extreme trauma, his or her strong emotional energy will be "burned" in a specific space, forming a "memory echo field." People who enter the scene will relive the traumatic moment in fragmented audio-visual or sensory forms. This reverberation is not a ghost, but a psychic residue similar to ambient recordings that usually dissipates quickly. But if an "anchor" figure of a special constitution is present, the reverberation will be attached to him. The male protagonist Jiang Chi is an unconscious "anchor". He will be attracted to traumatic events and become the carrier and amplifier of the echo. This led to him being constantly involved in various mysteries, and at the same time suffering from painful memories that did not belong to him.
