Starfall Embers: A Gift from a Million Years in the Future
As the hospital monitor's alarm turns into a countdown to death, Chen Mo clutches a silver capsule that appeared out of nowhere and makes a desperate choice.
His mother makes a miraculous recovery, but the price is being bound to the Starfall System Factory, the last legacy of a civilization destroyed a million years in the future. Cancer is conquered, trips to the moon become routine, and space folding, time acceleration, and genetic immortality become reality. One piece of future technology after another takes shape in his hands, and the old world crumbles in shock.
But every gift comes with a price tag. The System consumes his lifespan. Mysterious mining on the far side of the moon fuels global suspicion, old powers strike back, and a tidal wave of ethical questions sweeps the world. When alien survivors arrive in the solar system bearing a warning, and a cosmic devourer hunts them by following their energy trail, Chen Mo finally understands: the greatest test a civilization faces is not how to gain power, but how to avoid repeating the past.
From a hospital ward to the stars, from saving one person to protecting an entire civilization. This is the story of an ordinary man who inherits the legacy of a destroyed civilization and seeks a new path for humanity, caught between miracles and their cost, between gifts and responsibility.
So well written! This is an extremely novel science fiction novel with a clever plot and fluent writing style. What attracts me most is that the author's portrayal of the protagonist is very realistic, especially his psychological activities, which are particularly delicate.
