(This novel is made up of short episodes and would be well suited to a short animated series. Please don't flame me.)
The day she was diagnosed with terminal cancer, Lin Xiaoman signed the “One Happy Dream” agreement.
She gazed enviously at the chubby tabby cat in the convenience store. It ate, slept, and played, without overtime or KPIs.
When she opened her eyes again, she found herself walking on four furry paws. She tried to speak, but all that came out was:
“Meow.”
She had become a hermaphroditic Chinese tabby cat, and a chubby one at that.
By day, she was an “office drone” in the stray-cat world: chased for stealing food deliveries, bullied by real cats, and struggling to press the elevator button with her paw pads.
At night, her body suddenly grew hot and her feathers puffed up, she turned into a gray-blue parrot!
All the words she'd held back all day finally burst out:
“Who else gets it? I almost got chased two miles by a dog while I was a cat!”
“That bird's nest in the tree called me a gossip! I only said it once!”
The livestreaming System finally came online, a little late: [Livestream for two hours each night to earn today's cat food can.]
So, by day, she used her cat body to collect explosive neighborhood gossip: Auntie Wang's dog was in love again. By night, she used her beak to host Cross-Species Stand-Up Comedy.
Eating and bathing? The System activated “cognitive filtering,” so humans only thought, “It feels like there was a gust of wind just now.”
She once helped a stray cat having a difficult birth by livestreaming for help, only to get so riled up by the chat that her fur stood on end. She mediated a bird-versus-cat fight, only for both sides to gang up and curse her, and nearly got adopted by a pet shop before picking the lock with her parrot beak and escaping in the middle of the night.
Then one day during a livestream, her transformation cooldown malfunctioned
On camera, the parrot “poofed” into a tabby cat.
The entire internet crashed: #StreamerBecomes
A lot of imagination and lots of laughs.
