A single sheet from a mysterious grimoire can subdue demons and open a passage to the netherworld.
In the twelfth year of Yongchang, demons and ghosts began to rise.
Lu Xuan, a postal courier, found a blank ancient book at an abandoned relay station, only to discover that its ink had to be made from demonic fiendish energy.
From then on, he stepped into another world:
When a painted-skin ghost came looking for lodging, he set a trap with cheap face powder;
When the River Lord demanded a bride, he had a black donkey pretend to be the bride;
When hundreds of ghosts roamed the capital by night, he stood at the city gate with the book in hand: "This road is closed."
Until the wedding gown appeared...
A hundred-year-old vengeful ghost in red robes, with flesh growing over her bones, her face breathtakingly beautiful, yet intent on taking his life.
Then the final page of the mysterious grimoire slowly emerged:
"Gather the Three-Lives Stone, the Flower of the Other Shore, and Meng Po's Soup, and the curse binding a pair of lovers through seven lifetimes can be undone."
"The price is... becoming the last guardian of the Gate to the Netherworld."
