This is a story about silence, violence and the cost of resistance.
In an urban village with a bright and orderly appearance, the "rules" are controlled by a person called "Crow". He is both a perpetrator and a decent gentleman; he both instills fear and monopolizes goodwill.
In his shadow, countless people learned to bow their heads, shut up, and pretend that nothing happened.
Chen Mo was once the most inconspicuous chess piece beside Crow. A "soft heart" caused him to be quickly marginalized, abandoned, and humiliated from within the system. He was beaten, deprived of his position, and forced to stand in the corner of the world, watching how violence was packaged into order, and how sin was washed into honor.
Between urban villages, warehouses, docks and charity banquets, Chen Mo gradually realized:
What really crushed people was not the repeated beatings, but the fact that everyone "saw it but chose not to say anything."
