Wedge: Etch marks
It started with a wrong observation.
The astrologers of the Starfall Tower recorded the anomaly with trembling burnt ink on the edge of page 7422 of the "Silver Sea Star Track Chart" - the tide of the Soul Abyss should have reached its peak one hundred and forty-seven years later, but the spiritual marrow crystal on the observer shattered early. The cracked lines point to an ancient taboo word:
Boundary erosion.
The North was the first to notice something strange. The Scale-chasing tribe living on the edge of the Permafrost Sea discovered that the "Moon Tear Whale Song" they had relied on for generations, a sound wave frequency that could calm the soul beasts, began to flow backwards. The sea surface touched by the sound waves no longer ripples, but condenses into fine gray crystals, like a spreading skin disease.
Three months later, the crystallization phenomenon crossed the Linfeng Gorge and invaded the interior.
The Empire named it "Erosion Mist". It is not water vapor, but a slow leakage of the realm. When two dimensions of soul power that are supposed to be parallel are worn out, a high concentration of alien soul matter will seep into reality, just like ink dripping into clear water. Wherever it passes, the laws of physics will begin to loosen, memories will precipitate from the surface of objects, and traces of the dead can be captured by the naked eye at specific angles.
The most dangerous thing is that "eclipse shadows" begin to appear in the eclipse mist - outlines that do not belong to this world. They imitate life forms, swallow soul power, and materialize under the moonlight.
