Transmigrating to the Late Qing: Starting a Job at the Patrol Office

Qing Dynasty transmigration + alternate-history war + System-based martial arts.

Good news: modern loser Lu Xiaojia has transmigrated, and even ended up with someone who shares his name. Bad news: this Lu Xiaojia isn't the Young Marshal Lu Xiaojia.

At least he has no trouble staying alive. After all, he's the young master of the Lu family of Guangzhou's Thirteen Factories. But he transmigrated at the worst possible time. He barely gets to enjoy a few good days before the foreigners blockade the port, and war becomes imminent.

The Thirteen Factories are about to decline. In a feudal dynasty, merchants always rank at the bottom of the social order of scholars, farmers, artisans, and merchants. Even though the Thirteen Factories monopolize the country's foreign trade and are semi-official, their highest-ranking manager is only a low-ranking clerk, not even an official of the lowest grade.

Once war begins, the Thirteen Factories will be forced to foot the bill. Unless something unexpected happens, the Lu family will be finished…

Rather than let the court strip them bare, he'd rather spend money to avert disaster. So Lu Xiaojia pays a fortune to buy himself a low-ranking post as a clerk in the Patrol Office…
