The rain in Jiangcheng always carries a fishy smell that cannot be washed away.
Seventeen-year-old Lu Jin was dragged out of the car and thrown into the muddy alley. The raindrops hit his face, mixed with the blood on his forehead, and blurred his vision. He heard the voice of his adoptive father Zhao Shanhe, as cold as a knife tempered with ice: "I have raised you for fifteen years, but you dare to touch my goods? Lu Jin, you have forgotten who gave you a bite of food."
The stagnant water in the alley reflected the people behind Zhao Shanhe, all of them holding steel pipes and looking ferocious. Lu Jin gritted his teeth and tried to stand up by holding on to the ground, but was kicked hard in the chest. The pain made him curl up into a ball, and the blood he coughed up dyed the mud under him red.
"Uncle Zhao... That batch of goods is..."
"Shut up!" Zhao Shanhe interrupted him and looked at him condescendingly, as if he were looking at a useless piece of garbage. "From today on, you are no longer a member of my Zhao family. Get out of Jiangcheng. If I see you again, I will break your legs."
The headlights were dazzling and the engine roared away. Lu Jin lay in the rain, watching the black car disappear at the end of the alley, the hatred in his chest burning like wildfire. He didn't steal anything, he was framed. But Zhao Shanhe didn't believe him. The man he had called "uncle" for fifteen years personally pushed him into the abyss.
The rain fell harder and harder, washing away the blood in the alley and the light in Lu Jin's eyes. He got up and staggered towards the depths of the alley. His back was so thin that it looked like it would be torn apart by the wind and rain at any time.
The sky in Jiangcheng is about to change.
