Synopsis:
In 219 BC, a soul from the future falls into the Qin dynasty and becomes Chen Xu, a convict laborer at Mount Li.
He possesses the uncanny ability to glimpse the future by touching objects. After Qin Shi Huang Ying Zheng discovers him, Chen Xu is appointed “Court Secretary” and made a living mirror tasked with revealing the empire’s hidden dangers.
From then on, he moves between the shadows and splendor of the Xianyang Palace. In public, he plans imperial highways and advises on construction projects. In secret, he helps the Black Ice Terrace sniff out the sparks of rebellion, using his vision of the future to mark those doomed to die.
The assassination at Bolangsha takes an unexpected turn because of him. The schemes of the remnants of the Six Kingdoms take shape beneath his brush, and even Prince Fusu grows uneasy after finding the fragments he left behind...
He thinks he is using his knowledge to stay alive, unaware that every step he takes lies in the emperor’s palm.
When he writes the final character of The Strategies of the Future Emperor, Ying Zheng smiles at him:
“Your future is over. Your body shall now attain immortality.”
It turns out the greatest nightmare of a transmigrator is not dying in history, but becoming history itself.
