The story takes place in the near future. Aegis, a subconscious screening technology for memory, is used by the military to eliminate soldiers' post-war trauma (PTSD), but its actual use is to strip or even replace specific memories to create "perfect soldiers" with strong obedience. The core program of this technology was accidentally leaked during an experiment ten years ago, and project leader Lin Jianguo disappeared with the core technical information. Ten years later, the soldiers who participated in that experiment began to experience "memory echoes," in which erased memories were forcibly revived in fragments, causing them to behave abnormally and even die suddenly. A secret cleanup plan "Silence" was launched against this group of people.
