Steel Guns and Roses

Passion, true emotion, no System, no rebirth. From a young man in eastern Henan to an iron-blooded soldier, Zhao Wenlong grows through the hardships of military life and is tempered by the flames of war. His rifle protects his country, while a rose hides his tenderness. With steadfast bonds between comrades and love that burns bright, he writes the most stirring story of a soldier’s life! The novel follows Zhao Wenlong’s nearly twenty-year military career, from 1988 to 2003, weaving together a series of compelling stories about an ordinary hero: recruit training, a rotation in the Sino-Vietnamese War, advanced studies at a military academy, achievements in grassroots service, disaster relief, the 1998 floods, military reforms, and finally stepping back after reaching the height of his success.
