Reincarnation Assessment Report

Underworld, Reincarnation Office Complaints Department

Ghost Official A: The 1,247th complaint this year... They say there's something wrong with the standards used by our Book of Life and Death System. Why did it decide they'd be an orange cat in their next life?

Ghost Official B: What did they write?

Ghost Official A: "I've spent my whole life doing good by others. Sure, I've occasionally delayed paying wages, sold fake liquor, and smoked in the apartment elevator. But the System says I have to enter the animal realm? I refuse to accept this! I want to see the boss! I want to appeal! I want to... (turns the page) find out what it's like to be a sleek, well-fed orange cat with someone supporting me and no job to go to!"

Ghost Official B: ...

Third Enlarged Meeting of the Underworld, Year of the Fire Snake

Registrar: Ahem. In light of the repeated complaints about the automated evaluation System for the Book of Life and Death, whose algorithms are outdated and ill-suited to the diverse demands of souls in this new era... We will now vote on whether to pass Proposal No. 7: during the System upgrade, should we temporarily introduce manual reincarnation reviews by judges for certain special cases?

The assembled ghosts applaud.

Registrar: Good. From now on, all local clerks must write a complete reincarnation assessment report when processing reincarnation for new ghosts. Unanimously approved. Meeting adjourned!
