This is a personal epic about Li Yuan. The work is presented in the form of Li Yuan's own narrative. After listening to him talk about his life experience, we will follow his eyes and feelings, walking through the last prosperity and shadow of the Sui Empire, and see how he was immersed in the afterglow of the nobility as a boy and honed his survival wisdom in the officialdom; and how when the world was falling apart, Yu Jinyang secretly played chess and made a move that determined the fate of the world. From the fluttering wings of his eagles when he raised troops in Jinyang, to the difficult decision of Huoyi's rain; from the careful planning to seize Chang'an, to the glory and shadow of the founding of the Tang Dynasty; from the majesty of the golden army and iron horses to defeat the heroes, to the bone-chilling chill of the doubts between father and son within the palace wall; and finally, arriving at that bloody dawn, and the long and complicated years of the Supreme Emperor after dusk in the sea. This is not only the great achievements of a founder of a dynasty, but also a deep review of the gains and losses, love and hate, machinations and loneliness of a man who was at the peak of history.
