On the Night of the Uchiha Massacre, a Uchiha Nobody Crawled Out of His Coffin

Late on the night after the Uchiha massacre, a torrential downpour blankets all of Konoha. “Lord Orochimaru, I’ve gathered information. There are no survivors left in the Uchiha clan.” Huge raindrops stream down the sides of Yakushi Kabuto’s hat. Kabuto knows Orochimaru has come looking for a perfect vessel to replace his increasingly frail body. Orochimaru’s golden, vertically slit eyes stare fixedly at the Uchiha cemetery. “Perhaps we’ll find an unexpected prize.” As they speak, a boy climbs out of a coffin in the cemetery, his face pale and weak. A look of surprise crosses Yakushi Kabuto’s face. “There’s actually a survivor. A young boy!” A look of anticipation appears on Orochimaru’s ashen face. “The genius ninja Itachi Uchiha became the captain of the Anbu at thirteen. I hope this boy won’t disappoint me.”
