Four Happiness Meatballs: A Lost Flavor Among the Stars
In the year 2349 of the interstellar era, traditional cuisine has vanished beneath a flood of nutritional supplements, and "taste" has become a luxury reserved for the aristocracy. Su Wan, an interstellar archaeologist, dredges up a jade pendant engraved with a Four Happiness pattern from the bottom of the Yangtze River. The instant her fingertips touch the jade, visions surge into her mind: a rainy lane in Jiangnan during the late Ming dynasty, a gentle figure by the stove, and the fragrant aroma of a steaming bowl of meatballs.
It is the Su family's lost culinary spirit art, missing for seven hundred years. A single Four Happiness meatball can awaken memories buried deep in someone's heart and soothe pain that has endured across time and space. Lu Xun, a captain afflicted with emotional detachment, turns out to be the only person whose heart can be warmed by the meatballs Su Wan makes. When an interstellar conglomerate sets its sights on the culinary spirit art, hoping to turn it into a tool for mind control, the jade pendant suddenly erupts in dazzling golden light, sweeping the two of them into the chaos of 1644.
There they meet their ancestors, Su Jin'er and Lu Cheng: one keeps the secret recipe for Four Happiness meatballs and helps the world through food, while the other dons armor and protects the city with his life. A farewell promise made seven hundred years ago and a bloodline bond forged seven hundred years later slowly intertwine amid the clatter of pots and pans and the roar of interstellar cannons. When scientific formulas meet ancient culinary spirit arts, and starships face the blades of a world in turmoil, Su Wan and Lu Xun finally understand that the Four Happiness are not simply a dish. They are the safety, reunion, health, and peace of mind hidden within a flavor.
This is a legacy passed down across the stars: a bowl of meatballs, two generations of deep affection, and taste as their vessel, carrying a family's steadfast devotion and the bond between lovers as they fight against a fate doomed to be forgotten.
