The Immortal's Burden

The day I was born, a black snake slithered into our yard. From that day on, I bore a snake’s bones and was half human, half snake.

When I was nine, I touched the Snake Immortal statue on West Mountain. The evil god whispered that it wanted me as its spirit medium. To save me, Grandma hoisted the statue onto her back and walked into the blizzard. She was never heard from again.

To find Grandma and slay the evil god, I joined the Jingming Sect and spent eight years cultivating. I thought I was just dealing with ordinary hauntings, but I was drawn into a world-shaking conspiracy.

The Eastern Isles’ Nine Chrysanthemums and the descendants of the ancient Dragon-Raising Clan all appeared, intent on severing the dragon veins of Huaxia!

It was only when the false dragon beneath Dongting Lake awoke that I realized what I carried wasn’t a snake’s bone at all.

It was the atlas vertebra of a true dragon’s remains.

They want to slay the dragon? They’ll have to ask the dragon bone in my body if it agrees!
