The Mist of Chang'an, Volume Two: Star Tracks in the Western Regions

Chang'an in the Mist, Volume Two: The Stars of the Western Regions

Synopsis

In the spring of the third year of Zhide, purple energy burst from the tower and a true dragon appeared in the world. After three years of secluded cultivation beneath the Dragon-Suppressing Pagoda, Li Jingyan was reborn inside a cocoon of light. Eroding Dragon Gold fused with true dragon energy to form Violet Star Dragon Qi. The light of the stars shone through all 365 of his acupoints, yet the poison of the Sacred Blood remained lodged deep in his heart. Every attack brought agony that gnawed at his bones and visions drenched in blood.

At Chang'an's Observatory, Shen Qingci had drawn down starlight day after day for three years, using icy-blue stellar power to pierce the earth and suppress his poison. The girl of the past had become the head of the Imperial Astronomical Bureau. Her dark teal official robes concealed her tender heart as she watched for celestial disturbances beneath the armillary sphere. Dark gold light swirled through the Dipper Mansion, resentment stirred anew, and the secrets hidden in the star charts of the Western Regions began to emerge.

The cocoon of light shattered, and old friends reunited across three years and a tangle of unsolved mysteries. A golden dragon lay dormant in Li Jingyan's chest, while a star chart flickered in his palm. Burdened with newfound power and a deadly hidden danger, he had no choice but to journey west. The mists over Chang'an had yet to clear, and the sands of the Western Regions were rising once more. The source of the stellar poison and resentment, the remnants of the Star-Worshipping Sect, and the secrets behind the Eroding Dragon Gold were all hidden along the starry route of the Silk Road.

The swordswoman and the Holy King journey side by side. Along the ancient roads of the Western Regions, where yellow sand billows, they will follow the stars to uncover the truth, using Violet Star Dragon Qi and the power of starlight to fight the rising tide of darkness. Are they bound by fate, or caught in a game that defies heaven? When the winds of Chang'an meet the stars of the Western Regions, this journey of discovery across thousands of miles will at last reveal the buried past and what lies ahead.
