The Mermaid's Song: A Journey to Purify Teyvat

“I may not belong here, but every ripple in this place makes me want to sing for it.”

Doria, a merfolk priestess from the Continent of Teyvat, accidentally transmigrates to the unfamiliar land of Teyvat.

She only wants to find her way home. But when the gentle breeze of Mondstadt brushes past her hair and the moonlight of Liyue illuminates her song, she realizes that the road home seems to grow longer with every step.

“There's healing power hidden in your song,” Venti tells her as he plays his lyre. “But be careful. The waters of this world are yearning for your resonance.”

When she finally reaches Fontaine, the Nation of Water, its entire domain trembles gently at her arrival.

At the time, Fontaine is shrouded by a prophecy that “everyone will dissolve into water.” The Hydro Archon, Furina, plans to trade five hundred years of loneliness and a grand act of self-annihilation for a new beginning for her people.

“No, there's another possibility,” Doria says softly beside the Fountain of Lucine, her voice as gentle as moonlight on the water.

Aether grips her hand tightly. “What's the price?”

Doria gazes at the nation before her, soon to be swallowed by the Primordial Sea, and at the people who regard her as one of their own. Suddenly, she understands:

Some roads, once found, are roads you no longer want to leave.

So, on the day the prophecy comes true, she leaps into the heart of the vortex in the Primordial Sea.

From then on, Fontaine's waters hold the power to heal, and the eyes of every newborn reflect traces of starlight.

And the sea of her homeland becomes a distant place she no longer speaks of.
