“Daddy, Sisi hurts so much. I don't want treatment anymore. Let's go home...”
In the ICU, his five-year-old daughter wore an oxygen mask, so sensible it broke his heart.
Gu Yuan had only 32 yuan and 50 cents left in his pocket. Faced with a 500,000-yuan surgery bill, this seven-foot-tall man cried like a dog in the restroom.
Just when he had run out of options, an app called “Midnight Errands” installed itself on Gu Yuan's phone.
“Want to save your daughter?”
“Hiring midnight couriers. No medical check required. Only daredevils need apply.”
“Payment for this job: 50,000 yuan. The price: your lifespan.”
For his daughter's slim chance of survival, Gu Yuan signed the contract, staking his life on it!
From that day on, a reckless madman appeared on the streets of Jiangzhou after dark.
In an unfinished building, facing a red-clad specter out to claim his life, he didn't so much as blink. “Give me a good review, and you can take my life!”
In a funeral home at midnight, facing a terrifying being crawling out of its grave, he raised a brick. “Cut the crap. You get docked for being late. You're taking this order whether you like it or not!”
When terror returned in full force and the city fell, while everyone else wailed in despair,
Gu Yuan rode his beat-up electric scooter, a hundred thousand specters at his back, and carved a path through this crumbling world.
“I don't care if you're a specter or a god.”
“Anyone who dares touch my daughter, I'll send straight back to hell!”
