The book tells the story of Jiang Pingli's father, Wang Jianguo, who defrauded Jiang Cuiying, the daughter of the deputy county party committee secretary, in order to return to the city. When Wang Jianguo returned to the city, he married the daughter of a high-ranking official and abandoned Jiang Cuiying and his biological daughter Jiang Pingli. The heroine Jiang Pingli went through ups and downs and finally succeeded in starting a business, but sometimes suffered emotional shock and left in despair.
