Snowfall in the Mortal World

Everyone says Baiyujing is wonderful: the far shore of eternal life, the pinnacle of martial arts. Only I know it is an abyss that devours people, a grave that buries humanity. She is Ye Baiyi. The greatest Snow-Listening Sword Immortal under heaven, her body transformed into crystal, her feelings severed and her heart closed. She sat alone on the frozen plains of the far north for twenty years. One step more, and she would become a lofty deity, nothing more than an ornament on Heaven’s desk. He is Gu Hongchen. A wandering physician with no inner power, greedy, lecherous, and steeped in worldly vulgarity. Yet on a snowy night cold enough to freeze gods and demons to death, half a piping-hot roasted sweet potato was enough for him to drag her back to the human world from beyond Heaven’s Gate. “Ye Baiyi, the food up there is too cold. Why not stay and have a bowl of hot soup with me?” For the warmth of this humble human life, she cut away her immortal roots, betrayed her sect, and made the whole world her enemy. To keep her safe, he used a mortal’s body to calculate the secrets of Heaven, became a Demon Lord, and raised his blade against the sky. From the frozen plains of the far north to the misty, rainy south of the Yangtze, from the loess highlands to the blazing deserts of the Western Regions. Along this road, if gods stand in our way, we slay them; if Heaven blocks us, we defy it. I have a sword. I bow to neither ghosts nor gods. I wield it only to keep, in this vast world of mortals, that wisp of snow from fading away.
