Overworked to death, corporate drone Lin Xuan transmigrates into Douluo and awakens the Sky-Opening Axe Martial Soul. Bearing Houtu’s source, he swears to break the old order of a world without reincarnation.
The Divine Realm turns a blind eye to the souls of all living beings, while Soul Beasts die only to have their souls scattered forever. Unwilling to be worked to the bone for the gods, Lin Xuan joins forces with the auspicious beast Bai Yan, Ye Feng, a defector from Spirit Hall, and Su Qingyi, a legal prodigy. Using the Martial Soul space as their foundation, they build an underworld realm modeled after the Netherworld.
The Hall of Yama judges good and evil, the Bridge of Helplessness divides yin from yang, the Mirror of Karma reveals right and wrong, and the Gate of Six Paths of Reincarnation guides departed souls to rebirth. They withstand Spirit Hall’s siege and the Divine Realm’s crushing might, until the Sky-Opening Axe finally cleaves through their shackles. With an alliance forged, the Netherworld stands independent and enduring, opening an orderly path of reincarnation for all the people of Douluo.
